On behalf of LightForce International we would like to say thank you for your great contributions to the 'All In' World Fund for Missions. We appreciate year by year how you as members of the church have got behind us and supported the activities that we have in the field particularly in India and in Uganda. Here are a few ways your giving has made a difference…

Missions

India

In India we have supported Sunitha Johnson for a number of years now with the project at Home of Faith that sustains 60 children; feeding, housing, sending them to school and taking care of their medical needs. Please continue to help us do this throughout the next 12 months.

In addition we have a new project that I would like to bring to you in India this year. It’s an educational project for children in an area where it is not very easy to preach the gospel. And our partners in India are working in that area seeking to develop educational centres. It costs about £300 a year to run one centre which provides the staff and resources for 40 to 50 children to come after school to the local church where they receive additional support in their education. And at the same time the church is able to show the love and care of Jesus and present the gospel to these children and also to their families. It’s a sensitive area: we have to work very, very carefully and we ask that you support this valuable project to get the gospel to people who need to hear about the love of Christ.

Uganda

We are working in Uganda where late last year our health facility opened and the clinic has been steadily serving the community during the last 12 months. But we have an exciting addition to the regular medical care we are providing to the people in the community. We have been able to bring back, to LightForce, a young man who was a physiotherapist with us for over 2 years during which we saw huge results amongst 100 disabled children. And Dr Sam is coming back having spent 5 years in medical school. He is qualified as the equivalent to being here in the UK a GP and he is going to come and work on the staff of the clinic with us. And we are asking that you would help us continue to provide this service to the community which this year is rising to another level. And we believe we will also be able to find many of the disabled children in our community who Sam is going to be able to help, as well as providing care for people with diabetes and hypertension and other problems. And so please get behind us to help us with this extra service.

Vulnerable Children's Home

And then our vulnerable children’s home is now continuing to run and support from you for the children to be fed and housed, the staff to care for them, for them to go to school and receive medical care when required.

Vocational Training School

The newest project that we have is our Vocational Training School, which we continue to develop and support students to be trained in tropical agriculture and livestock management and in computing, IT, plus tailoring. And we have received already, from a legacy that was left to the church here in Milton Keynes, almost £11,000 given by Bill and Di Brittle in their will and it is going to be the initial money used for the school and we are actually going to dedicate the school to their memory. But we need desks, we need computers, laptop computers so that students are not just working with a teacher, blackboard and books, but they actually have plenty of practical. We need sewing machines for the tailoring department. We need cows, pigs, sheep, goats, chickens, tools for the garden. Don’t give us a cow: transport is difficult! But if you can help support these resources that we need it will mean that we will have one of the best facilities, balancing classroom and practical together.

And so these are our targets for this coming year and we ask you once again to stand with us as we take Good News to the poor of Lira, Uganda and practical help to people in need to enable them to be able to care for themselves and build a successful future.
